The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of seized Russia's holdings to aid the Ukrainian war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to participate in talks.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the United States.

UK penalties have blocked over £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow launched its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, funds provided to Ukraine using Russian assets had solely been taken from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to drive progress toward employing the full value of the seized Russia's state funds to end the war.

He stated that more measures in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This declaration follows European Union representatives met in the Danish capital last week to debate utilizing seized Russian funds for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump urged international partners to take or utilize seized Russian holdings, based on reports.

The value of immobilized Russian assets in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow carried out large-scale bombardments throughout the Ukrainian territory on recently, causing blackouts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were lost their lives and at least 20 people were wounded in the assault, authorities in Ukraine reported.

In a message on an online platform after the incident, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack targeted non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not empty words but concrete steps - from the US, Europe, and the seven nations - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing sanctions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to join the weapons procurement program, under which Nato countries purchase weapons from the US to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the United Kingdom's strong support for Kyiv, he noted it should indicate firmly that it would participate in the program, as well as enforce more restrictions on Moscow.
