Sweden Selection Reveal: Alexander Isak Included While Viktor Gyokeres Misses Out
Viktor Gyokeres signed with Arsenal after leaving Sporting in July
Gunners forward Viktor Gyokeres fails to make the cut from Graham Potter's initial Swedish national team selection, while Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has earned a place
Gyokeres is due to undergo additional assessments this week following fears he suffered a muscle problem during Arsenal's English top flight triumph at Burnley last weekend
Gyokeres was absent from Arsenal' Champions League success versus Slavia Prague earlier this week
Isak Back in Action
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from late October because of a groin problem, was selected for the World Cup games versus the Swiss team (November 15th) plus the Slovenian side (November 18th)
Other Premier League Call-ups
- Spurs playmaker the young talent, who is recovering from concussion
- Magpies winger Anthony Elanga
These players feature in Potter's Premier League contingent chosen under ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager Graham Potter
Potter's Role
Potter took over by Sweden originally for an interim period on 20 October, under a month after his departure from the Hammers
Previous boss Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked after Sweden's defeat to the Kosovan team in mid-October, a result which rendered straight qualification from their World Cup group unattainable
Present Standing
Sweden find themselves last place of Group B with just one point in four matches
Should they don't manage to finish second, they could still be involved in the World Cup play-offs as a result of their results during the previous Nations League
