Netflix Selects Ideal Actor for Bentham in One Piece Season 3
The Secret Organization is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the major clash won’t unfold until the third season, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bon Clay. This character can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The actor, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action show, differing from the initial comic and anime.
Escola joins several other fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, such as leader Mr. 0, portrayed by the well-known actor, an emerging star as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of the desert kingdom.
Though the role is a key figure of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this marks a notable change in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Their mix of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the role. Along with their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.
The platform’s adapted One Piece program is set to return for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
