Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
