Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.

For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only away win this season came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
