Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.

The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
