The under-pressure manager insisted he was not afraid of the sack, claiming, “We are really close to a turnaround,” despite moving dangerously close to being fired with a comprehensive loss to Rangers.

Another Collapse Results in Old Firm Loss

Celtic were ahead their oldest rivals at the break but a collapse after the break enabled Rangers to move level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was hired in December, has now presided over six setbacks in his last eight fixtures.

Nancy’s Persistent Belief

He highlights the fact Celtic play well for one half at a time. In fact, but for wastefulness in front of goal they could have been greater than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit other than the fact that we missed a second goal,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I must remain fair.

“The performance we had at certain moments was really, really, really high. This is the reality. I could not speak so positively if it was not the case. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I said it's a repeating pattern. Which is why I said that we are really close to things turning around. Currently: small things.”

“We produced many, many good things that we did, once more. The issue now comes down to consistency. My message would not be if I didn't believe it. This is why I am a big believer we will manage to turn things around.”

The Rangers Boss Outlook

Rangers manager played down talk of a title charge despite what felt like a statement victory. “One match at a time, so we can gradually build something here,” he said. “The belief in the squad is excellent.”
