Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period of this nature with results so bad.”

He concluded, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
